IDEAL ONE WEEK FROM MAISON DIX

What if your next holiday were all about discovery, a relaxed pace of life, and authenticity?

Located in the heart of the village of Neffiès, Maison Dix is the ideal starting point for exploring the western Hérault region. There is no need to travel hundreds of kilometers here: in less than an hour, you can visit picturesque villages, swim in a lake, a river, or the Mediterranean, meet passionate winemakers, go hiking, or stroll through the South’s traditional markets.

To help you plan your stay, we have put together a seven-day itinerary that combines must-see attractions with some of our personal favorites.

DAY 1

Take the time to discover Neffiès

After arriving at Maison Dix, ease gently into your stay.

Take a moment to settle in, explore the house and its various areas, relax by the pool, or enjoy a coffee in the garden.

In the late afternoon, set out on foot to explore Neffiès. This wine-growing village instantly charms visitors with its authenticity. Narrow streets wind between old stone-fronted houses, colorful shutters, and shady squares.

Let yourself wander without a fixed itinerary. The charm of Neffiès lies in these very details: an antique door, wisteria in bloom, a view of the vineyards...
At sunset, the golden light transforms the village and the surrounding landscape. It is one of the most beautiful times of day.

Our tip: Settle onto the terrace at the restaurant L'Escampette for a drink and start your holiday to the rhythm of the South.

DAY 2

A day in Pézenas, the town of Molière.

Located just fifteen minutes from Maison Dix, Pézenas is a must-visit destination.
A designated "Town of Art and History," it is famous for having hosted Molière and his troupe in the 17th century. To this day, its historic center retains a remarkable heritage.

Stroll through the cobbled streets, admire the grand townhouses, and step into the workshops of ceramicists, ironworkers, or jewelry designers.
On Saturday mornings, the large market brings the streets to life with the colors and aromas of local produce.

Afterward, take the time to enjoy lunch on a terrace before continuing your walk.

Tip: Don't miss tasting the famous *petit paté de Pézenas*, a surprising specialty that blends meat with sweet flavors.

DAY 3

Meeting the winemakers.

You simply cannot visit Neffiès without exploring its vineyards.

The hillsides surrounding the village produce renowned Languedoc wines, thanks to an exceptional terroir and the expertise of passionate winemakers.
Several estates open their doors to visitors, offering guided tastings.
You will discover the region's signature grape varieties, winemaking methods, and the history of these family-run estates.
In summer, some wineries host festive evenings featuring music, food, and wine tasting amidst the vines. These events offer a quintessential Languedoc experience—convivial and authentic.

Tip: Eric from Domaine des Costes Rouges would love to share his passion for wine with you. And on Wednesdays, don't miss the events at Domaine de la Resclauze!

DAY 4

A morning hike through the vineyards.

Before the summer heat sets in, lace up your sneakers and set out to explore the landscapes surrounding Neffiès. Just steps outside the village, trails wind through vineyards, olive groves, and *garrigue* scrubland scented with thyme, rosemary, and rockrose.

Depending on your mood, choose between a leisurely one-to-two-hour walk or a more vigorous hike toward the Avants-Monts hills. Along the way, panoramic views open up over the Languedoc vineyards, with the foothills of the Haut-Languedoc serving as a backdrop on clear days.
Spring brings an explosion of wildflowers, while cicadas provide the soundtrack to every summer walk. In autumn, the vines take on magnificent golden and crimson hues—a spectacle particularly loved by photographers. As you wander, you might discover the remains of the Julien Mill or the ruins of Tiberet.
Back at Maison Dix, enjoy a relaxing moment by the pool before heading out in the afternoon to explore Lac du Salagou.

Upon arrival, the contrast between the blue water and the famous red earth (*ruffe*) is striking.
You can choose to go swimming, take a walk, try stand-up paddleboarding, or simply enjoy a picnic by the water.
It is one of the Hérault region's most iconic natural sites.

Tip: Head out early in the morning and bring a water bottle, a hat, and your camera.

DAY 5

The region's most beautiful villages.

Take the day to discover some of Occitanie’s most remarkable villages.

Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert—ranked among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France"—will captivate you with its abbey, medieval lanes, and shaded square.
Minerve impresses with its spectacular location overlooking the gorges.
Villeneuvette, a former royal cloth manufactory, offers a peaceful stroll in a setting steeped in history.
In Olargues—another of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France"—follow the "Devil's Path" to reach the old fortified town and its *castrum*.
Roquebrun, nicknamed "Little Nice," features a terraced village overlooking the Orb River, where you can cool off.

Each village has its own unique character, market, artisans, and inviting terraces where it is a pleasure to stop and relax.

DAY 6

A Mediterranean getaway.

Looking for a change of scenery?
Reach the Mediterranean beaches in less than an hour.
Take your pick: the lively atmosphere of Sète, the long beaches of Marseillan, the charm of Cap d'Agde, or the wilder coastal landscapes.
Enjoy a swim, savor oysters from the Étang de Thau, or stroll along the harbors.
Then, in the late afternoon, return to the tranquility of Maison Dix.

Tip: Don't forget your sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.

DAY 7

Make the most of Maison Dix

Vacations always fly by too quickly. Before hitting the road again, treat yourself to a more leisurely day.
By the poolside, take the time to savor a delicious breakfast prepared by Marie using local ingredients.
Then, settle into a sun lounger, lose yourself in a good book, or simply enjoy the song of the cicadas.
You might also take a walk through the vineyards before returning to get ready for your departure.
Often, it is these quiet moments that remain the most precious.
